TEAK FOR OUTDOOR USE
Material Description – Teak for Outdoor Use
Teak is a hardwood with outstanding properties for furniture and interior use. It is dense, heavy, slightly flexible, and naturally rich in oils – making it highly resistant to moisture, weather, and impact. We use only plantation-grown teak from Indonesia in the production of our teak furniture. Cracks may occur and are considered a natural feature of the material.
Untreated & Treated Outdoor Teak
Untreated teak gradually changes in appearance when exposed to outdoor elements – transitioning from a warm honey color to a refined silvery-grey patina. To accelerate this process and ensure an even tone, we treat our outdoor teak furniture with an eco-friendly, water-based solution containing potassium silicate as the active ingredient.
This treatment gives the furniture a grey tone from the start. Due to natural differences in the wood’s structure, some pieces may absorb more or less of the treatment, resulting in slight variations in color between items.
Natural Aging & Resin Spots
Over time, the treatment will gradually wear off, allowing the wood’s own natural patina to shine through, and the furniture will retain a beautiful, weathered silver-grey look. Occasionally, yellowish spots may appear – this is sap or resin surfacing from the wood, which is completely natural and will fade with time as the furniture is exposed to the elements.
