Here you will find high-quality leather dining chairs from Italy and South America; both armchairs and slimmer models. We offer leather chairs in timeless, classic designs as well as chairs with a more modern aesthetic
Leather dining chairs and armchairs age with charm and develop a wonderful patina over time. They also have an exclusive and understated look that is hard to replicate with other materials.
As you can see, we have many different models of leather chairs with legs made of metal or beautiful wood such as ash, oak, or beech. The right dining chair elevates the entire dining area and encourages you and your guests to linger at the table for longer.
Leather – a living material
Our leather dining chairs are crafted from high-quality leather sourced from Italy and South America. The leather undergoes various techniques to achieve the right appearance and texture for different styles and interiors
Full-grain leather is completely devoid of any surface coating. It is very soft and supple, with a natural look featuring color variations that add depth to the surface. It is beautiful and very comfortable against the skin and ages gracefully, but it is also a bit more sensitive to stains and requires regular maintenance.
Semi-aniline leather is lightly sanded to create a more matte, softer surface while preserving its natural texture. This type of leather also has a protective finish, making dining chairs in semi-aniline leather slightly more durable than those in full-grain leather.
Pigmented full-grain leather has a delightful texture and develops a fantastic patina but lacks the same natural expression. The advantage is that you can choose from a wider range of exciting colors. Since this leather has been treated with protective products, it is incredibly resilient and withstands moisture and dirt. A leather chair in pigmented full-grain leather needs regular cleaning and reconditioning to maintain its character.
Nubuck is an extremely soft aniline leather that has been sanded to create a matte, velvety surface that closely resembles suede. It is beautiful and feels wonderful against the skin but is somewhat more delicate. By treating the leather with Leather Natural Protection, you can protect it from dirt and wear.
Care advise for leather dining chairs
Leather dining chairs are typically easy to keep fresh, and over time, they develop a beautiful patina. Take care of them properly to ensure they remain beautiful and comfortable for many years to come. Different types of leather require different maintenance, but here are some general tips on how to keep your leather chairs in good condition:
Dust the chairs occasionally with a soft cloth, and use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner to reach difficult-to-access areas.
You can try to gently “rub out” small scratches and scuffs in the leather with a clean finger.
Remove stains promptly by wiping them away with a damp cloth so they don’t have a chance to soak into the leather. Use a soft cloth with lukewarm water (note that water should not be used on nubuck).
When cleaning your leather dining chairs, you can also use a mild soap or a product like Leather Clean & Protect, which contains ingredients for both leather care and maintenance.
Avoid using strong cleaning agents, as they often do more harm than good to leather. Also, refrain from exposing your leather chairs to high heat or direct sunlight, as this can cause damage to the leather.
2 important measurements when choosing chairs
When selecting new chairs for your dining area, it’s crucial to consider the size of your dining space and the dining table you have in mind, as well as how many people you want to accommodate around the table. Here are two key measurements to keep in mind when choosing new dining chairs:
Width: Chairs typically have a width of approximately 45-55 cm (18-22 inches). You should allow for an extra 15 cm (6 inches) of space between chairs to ensure that it doesn’t feel cramped around the table. Measure the tabletop width and the distance between the table legs to calculate how many chairs can fit comfortably around your table.
Seat Height: Consider the height of the chair’s seat in relation to the table’s surface. Dining tables are usually about 72-75 cm (28-30 inches) high, and you’ll need approximately 30 cm (12 inches) of space between the seat and the table surface for comfortable seating. If the chair has a cushion or padded seat, measure the seat height with the cushion or padding compressed.
Bonus Tip.. Armchairs with armrests can offer both comfort and luxury, but they require a bit more space. Allow for some extra clearance, and check that the armrests are low enough for the chair to slide under the table when not in use. Some of our leather dining chairs are available with or without armrests, allowing you to mix and match both models in your dining area.
More tips for a lovely dining area
The right table and chairs form the basis, but an inviting dining area is also about the details. Set the table with a nice tablecloth or stylish placemats, luxurious cloth napkins and beautiful china. Beautiful glasses enhance the feeling both for everyday life and parties. Feel free to also decorate with candles and a bouquet or other decorations that suit the season. A beautiful lamp above the table provides light and also acts as a beautiful eye-catcher, even when it is not lit. Feel free to frame the dining group with a large, lovely rug. Right by the dining area, it can be most practical with a plain wovenrug, or a rug with a slightly shorter pile.
